Hey nosteam, add this to your list of solutions, it worked for me !

Make changes to the re2_config.ini file.

TargetPlatform=DirectX12
UseOptimizeShader=Disable

I think the target & capability needs to be the same. Mine was already DX12, but the TargetPlatform was DX11, so changed ini file to DX12 as shown above, & disabled shaders. Save the file !

Then it started to work.
